Western China Commodities Fair to Be Held

The 12th Western China Commodities Trade Fair will be held from September 2-6 in Tianshui City of Gansu Province, northwest China.

More than 10,000 people are expected to attend the upcoming fair, said Zhang Jinliang, mayor of Tianshui, adding that the transaction volume is predicted at six billion yuan (about 723 million US dollars).

Tianshui is known as the birthplace of Fuxi, one of China's legendary rulers credited with introduction of hunting, farming and fishing, and of the Fuxi Culture.

Fuxi Culture Tourism Festival will be held simultaneously.

The fair is an annual event sponsored by 11 prefectures and cities in western China and the five western railway sub-bureaus of Xi'an, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Ankang and Yinchuan.
