Million Surfers Sign to Back Beijing 2008 Olympics BidChina Internet Competition Committee (CICC) initiated last night a signature activity to back up Beijing's bid for 2008 Olympic Games. Zhou Qiang, first secretary, secretariat of the Communist Youth League of China, Xu Yongguang, managing deputy director and secretary-general of Chinese Youth and Juvenile Development Fund and some other leading persons put their signature at the start-up ceremony. Li Ning, former world gym champion, Li Suli, "National May Day Labor Medal" winner, Qian Hualin, famous scholar and many other social celebrities were present at the ceremony.At 19:39, August 28 (Beijing time), Beijing was successfully chosen as one of the five finalists to compete for hosting XXIX Olympiad. At the news, CICC decided to launch a grand online activity to enlist signatures in prime time in the way all major Chinese websites such as Xinhuanet, China News.com.cn, Sina. com., 163. com. and Sohu. com. were contacted and set links on their web pages. At the ceremony, Chen Hong, the First China Net Miss, publicized "Letter to All Chinese Surfers", calling for backing up Beijing's bid for 2008 Olympic Games and spreading the spirit of Olympics.
