Chinese Vice-Premier Meets Japanese Guests

Chinese Vice Premier Wu Bangguo met Tuesday with Katsuya Okada, chairman of Japan's House of Representatives Committee on Security and the next minister of Finance (Shadow Cabinet) of the Democratic Party.

Wu, also a member of Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), said developing friendly cooperative relations between China and Japan is the core issue laid before the two countries in the new century.

He added that the strategy of developing west China will provide Sino-Japanese cooperation with new opportunities, and he voiced the hope that the young Japanese politicians will contribute to the healthy and stable development of Sino-Japanese friendly and cooperative partnership in the new century.

Katsuya Okada said that Japan and China are neighboring countries, and the bilateral relations have developed well. He hopes that the relations between Japan and China will continue to improve in the 21st century, and he promised that the Japanese Democratic Party would like to make a contribution toward this goal.

The Japanese guests are visiting China at the invitation of International Department of CPC Central Committee.
