Another Person Detained for Bus Accident

Local police in the southern Chinese city of Liuzhou recently detained another person, who prosecutors say is responsible for a bus accident which killed 79 people on the night of July 7.

Yu Zhihua, the former deputy head of the Liuzhou Municipal Maintenance Administration in charge of safety, passed by the repair site on a local bridge before the fatal accident took place and found cement partitions used for construction on the main road.

He is being held responsible for failing to remove the cement partitions.

The accident occurred on the night of July 7 when a bus from the Liuzhou bus company crashed into the cement partitions and lost control, plunging into the Liujiang River and killing every person on the bus.

Before Yu's detainment, eight other people were also detained for causing the fatal accident.
