Chinese Official Arrested for Economic Crime
Zhang Yuren, ex-director of the Sichuan Provincial Commission for Economic Restructuring (SPCER), was arrested recently for economic crimes.
Officials with the Sichuan Provincial People's Procuratorate disclosed that they uncovered Zhang's case by chance during an investigation of another case involving the management staff of a local company in March.
The procuratorate started the investigation of Zhang on June 5, discovering that Zhang took huge amounts of original issue stocks when he was in charge of the companies' listing on the stock markets at the SPCER.
The case is under further investigation, and the exact amount of money missing has yet to be confirmed.
