China Telecom Introduces New Net Access System

China Telecom, the largest fixed-line phone operator in mainland, has unveiled new technology to enable people to access the internet without contracts, the China Daily reported on Tuesday.

The Internet card operates in a similar manner to phone cards, which are very popular in the mainland. Card-holders will be able to connect their computers to any fixed-line phone and enter the card number and PIN for services such as dial-up internet access and high speed ISDN access.

There are both rechargeable and non-rechargeable cards available.

The cards come in a variety of values, from 30 yuan to 200 yuan. China Telecom is currently offering discounts on the face value of the cards.
