Beijing Issues Regulations on Websites

Beijing Municipal Administration for Industry and Commerce (BMAIC) issued regulations Monday on website registration and the supervision of business websites.

Under the entrustment of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce, the BMAIC is in charge of website registration nationwide; its own website, http://www.hd315.gov.cn, will release the necessary procedures and all the recently registered website addresses.

According to the register regulation, each applicant can register, at most, under three website names and any other institutions or individuals are forbidden to use the already existent name to register a new website. The new regulation also works out related terms on the website's name transfer, cancellation and annual examination.

Business websites refer to those whose founders are enterprises or involved in business activities. All such websites need to be registered in the BMAIC. There are also articles on websites transfer and cancellation, annual examination and changes in website data.

Officials from BMAIC said China's IT industry has been developing at rapid pace over the past two years and the new laws are expected to regulate the IT industry's business activities and

efficiently protect website owners' rights.
