Eurasia Youth Camp Kicks Off in East China

The Eurasia Youth Camp opened Tuesday in Jinan, the capital city of east China's Shandong province, aiming at providing voluntary service for local people and promoting mutual understanding between youth from different countries.

The camp is being attended by more than 100 young volunteers from 25 member states of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), including China, Britain, France, Singapore and the Republic of Korea (ROK).

Patricia from Portugal said at the opening ceremony that she was happy to have the opportunity to learn more about young people from other countries and serve local people.

The camp, organized by the All-China Youth Federation and the Asia-Europe Foundation, provided those young volunteers with opportunities to work for local communities by planting trees and participating in a number of cultural activities, including a trip to the former residence of Confucius (551BC-479BC), a famous Chinese thinker.

The event will help foster an awareness of environmental protection among young people and promote friendship between Chinese youth and their counterparts in the rest of the world, an organizer said.
