Chinese FM Spokesman Comments on Japanese News Report

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhu Bangzao Tuesday commented on a news report by Japanese newspaper Mainichi Shimbun.

Mainichi Shimbun reported that the Japanese government has decided to set up a new "off-island force" to deal with the recent frequent activities of China's vessels in waters near Japan. Zhu was asked by a reporter to comment on the report.

"We have taken note of such a news report, and Japanese Foreign Minister Yohei Kono, who is visiting China, has recently made it clear that the Japanese government will not and has no intention to establish a force against Chinese vessels," Zhu said.
