Baosteel Put Out New-type Steels
To meet market's rising demand for new high-tensile anticorrosive steel, the First Steel Company of Baoshan Steel Group has succeeded in putting out in stable quality and large batches two new categories of construction steel - vanadium threading steel and weatherproof structural steel.
This is a big success in China's steel production, which will bring a great change in the use of product mix of construction steel according to experts from the State Metallurgical Industry Bureau.
When new-type steels are produced efforts have also been made by the producer to tap market potential. Vanadium threading steel has its good use on many large projects such as Qinshan third-phase nuclear power plant in south China's Zhejiang Province, Shenzhen Dayawan nuclear power plant and Waigaoqiao port's third-phase construction in Shanghai Pudong. Apart from meeting domestic demand, more than 150,000 tons of the steel have been exported. High weatherproof structural steel has shown its good utility as a new type of steel on such a large project as Shanghai Stadium with a seating capacity of 80,000 and Pudong International Conference Center.
Experts say professionals in building industry should step up their study on the property and an optimum use of new construction steels on projects to be launched.
