Chinese Urbanites Spend Over 600 Yuan on Tourism Per Person
It's learned from the first membership meeting of the Tourist City Branch of the Chinese Tourism Association that nearly 95 percent of Chinese urban citizens go on a tour and each person spends 615 yuan on it.
Last year, residents in cities and towns spent as much as 174.8 billion yuan on inbound tourism, making up 61.7 percent of the total consumption amount of domestic tourism. The Chinese cities are both the major destinations of Chinese and foreign tourists and the sources of inbound as well as outbound travelers. The tour economy represents a high proportion of the GDP of Chinese cities, accounting for about 10 percent in quite a few cities and even more than 30 percent in some cities.
