ICBC Promotes E-Banking Business

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) announced Monday that its unified call center has officially opened to clients for electronics banking services.

A spokesman for ICBC said that the bank's unified call number 95588 has been opened in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen cities and Shaanxi and Zhejiang provinces, among other places. By the end of November, ICBC will open its call center system in all provincial capitals to provide e-banking services.

Last year ICBC opened its advanced capital clearing system covering more than 8,000 business outlets nationwide and is capable of remitting capital to other cities in less than two hours. On February 1 this year it opened an on-line banking businesses.

To date the bank's on-line banking business has been expanded to 31 cities, and is expected to cover China's major cities in three months.

In addition to the basic functions of on-line banking such as payment, account inquiring and account transference, some of ICBC's branches have also opened on-line foreign exchange trading for individuals and on-line account transference between banks and securities firms, the spokesman said.
