State Councilor Meets Thai Vice-Foreign Minister

State Councilor Luo Gan met with visiting Vice-Foreign Minister Sukhumbhand Paribatra of Thailand in Beijing Monday and exchanged views on drug trafficking and related issues.

Luo said the drug issue concerns everyone. To solve drug problems requires the support and cooperation of China and the international community. However, international cooperation should be conducted in accordance with the UN Charter, especially on the basis of mutual respect and non-interference in each other's internal affairs.

Luo briefly introduced China's stance and efforts on eliminating drugs, stressing China and Thailand, as close neighbors have been working hard to stamp out the problem and they should work closely together in dealing with drug trafficking.

Sukhumbhand said both Thailand and China are near the Golden Triangle Area. For this reason, it is necessary that both countries work closely together.

He appreciated China's efforts in eliminating drug, saying that Thailand has a lot to learn from China in dealing with drugs.
