Ministry Circular on Student Loans
The Ministry of Education has called on all universities and colleges to attach great importance to the issue of granting student loans.
In a circular published Monday, the ministry urged higher learning institutions to carry out specific guidelines recently issued by the People's Bank of China, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.
The education loans for students from poor families is a major step for implementing the government strategy of reinvigorating the nation through science, technology and education. It also helps improve the development of China's educational sector and deepen the reform of the education system.
Specific departments and individuals should be appointed by schools to coordinate student loans.
It also asks the colleges to assist banks that have been selected to make the loans.
