Foreign Trade in Beijing Booming

Beijing has registered a imports and exports volume of 6.115 billion US dollars in the first seven months of this year, an increase of 38.2 percent over the same period of last year.

Exports rose 53.5 percent over the period. hitting 2.432 billion US dollars, latest statistics from the Beijing Municipal Customs showed.

Processing trade, valuing at 1.33 billion US dollars, was still the mainstay of export in Beijing. Exports by foreign-funded enterprises accounted for 59.4 percent of general exports in Beijing.

Machinery and electrical appliances were among the leading imported items of Beijing during the first seven months. The imports value registered an increase of 30.5 percent in the period to reach 2.94 billion US dollars, making up 79.7 percent of Beijing's overall imports value.

Imports by foreign-funded enterprises reached 2.62 billion US dollars in the seven months, accounting for 71.2 percent of the total imports volume in Beijing.
