Macao SAR Seeks Judicial Cooperation With Guangdong

A delegation of judges of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) left here Monday for a four-day visit to neighboring Guangdong Province.

"The trip is aimed at increasing channels of contact and laying the foundation for future judicial cooperation," said Sam Hou Fai, head of the delegation and president of the Court of Final Appeal of the Macao SAR.

The delegation will visit courts in Guangzhou and nearby cities.Judges of Macao and Guangdong will brief each other on their respective judicial systems, discuss ways to strengthen personnel training and seek judicial cooperation.

Because of the difference in judicial systems and the lack of judicial agreements, the court rulings made at one place sometimes are difficult to be carried out by the judicial organs of the other place, Hou Fai said.

He noted that the trip is made for Macao and Guangdong to maintain close relations and that the Macao SAR will seek more judicial cooperation with other parts of the inland areas of China in the future.
