Chinese Vice-President Meets Nepalese FM

Chinese Vice-President Hu Jintao met with visiting Nepalese Foreign Minister Chakra Bastola at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Friday.

Hu said during the 45 years since the forging of diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have been advancing steadily, with fruitful cooperative results produced in political, economic, trade, and cultural sectors.

The two countries have also supported and coordinated with each other closely in world affairs and established friendly ties based on mutual trust and respect, equality, and mutually beneficial cooperation, said the Vice-President, adding China also highly appreciates Nepal's support on issues like human rights, Tibet and Taiwan.

China has always held that all countries, big or small, rich or poor, strong or weak, are equal members of the world community endowed with the right to choose their own course of development compatible to their specific situations, he stressed.

He said China will continue its efforts for a better relations with Nepal in the 21st century.

Bastola said the Nepalese people highly treasure the traditional friendship between the two countries based on the five principles of peaceful co-existence, expressing the conviction that the generation-to-generation good-neighborliness would certainly be further developed in the future.
