Macao SAR Govt to Sign Agreement with MicrosoftThe government of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) will sign an agreement next month with Microsoft which will provide the former with software and services at favorable prices. The agreement will be the result of an earlier administrative decree which requires that all government departments use authorized software, the Macao Daily News reported Friday. On some occasions, however, one set of authorized software may be installed into several computers. Such practice obviously violates intellectual property rights. Considering that the government will buy large quantities of legal software in the coming years, Microsoft may offer its software and services at very favorable prices, the newspaper said. Under such circumstances, some local educators said the government had better negotiate with the company so that schools can also obtain inexpensive software. |
