Traffic Accident in SW China Kills Eight

Eight people were killed and 10 others injured in a bus-truck collision Thursday morning in the city of Luzhou, southwest China's Sichuan Province.

A local report said that a mini-bus heading from the county of Xingwen to Luzhou City collided with a truck at around 8:20 am Thursday morning.

The bus rolled down the road and overturned three meters below the road surface. Seven people aboard were killed on the spot, and one of the 11 seriously wounded persons died after being rushed to a local hospital for treatment.

The report said that local officials rushed to the scene to direct rescue operations. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
