China Telecom Arrives in Sydney for Olympic Broadcast

China Telecom mobile communications team, consisting of nine technicians, arrived in Sydney today. They will provide the technical support for transmission of the Sydney Games TV programming via satellite.

China Telecom was invited by Australia Telecom and an American company. This is the first time China Telecom has gone abroad to televise the Olympics.

The satellite communication equipment have already arrived in Sydney. The nine technicians will test all the equipment before September 1.

They will set up a temporary control center. They will be responsible for transmitting the Olympics to Hong Kong's TVB station, transmit tidbits about the Olympics and transmit the TV programs such as the qualifying soccer group matches to TV stations around the world.
