Foreigners Caught Stealing in Chinese BankPolice in Shenyang, capital city of Liaoning Province, northeast China, said today they have detained two foreigners on charge of stealing 6,100 U.S. dollars from a local bank.The two, holding passports of a south Asian country, went into a local bank of the Bank of Communications on August 14, asking to exchange two 50-U.S. dollar bank notes for a 100 dollar bill. While pretending to choose a bill with a specific serial number from the given bank notes, they put some of the money in their pockets. Their activities were recorded by a video camera installed in the bank. The two were caught in a local hotel five days later and confessed they had stolen altogether 6,100 dollars from the bank. Further investigation is underway, police said. |
