Chinese, Nepalese FMs Discuss RelationsChinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan said Thursday that China will make unremitting efforts to establish a good-neighborly partnership with Nepal throughout generations.Tang made the remarks during talks with his Nepalese counterpart Chakra Bastola. He said that China is also willing to work with Nepal to explore new ways to promote bilateral economic and trade cooperation. Tang said that the two countries are close neighbors, and they have followed the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence, and had fruitful cooperation in political, economic, cultural areas as well as in international affairs since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago. In order to further cooperate in tourism, according to Tang, the Chinese government has agreed to designate Nepal as a destination for Chinese tourists. Bastola said that the Nepalese government and people cherish a traditional Sino-Nepalese friendship, and thank the Chinese government for its help for Nepal over the past years. He said that the Nepalese government adheres to the one-China policy, and never allows any activities undermining China's interests in its territory, adding that Nepal would like to join hands with China to advance relations based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Co-existence. Before the talks, the two foreign ministers signed an agreement on economic and technological cooperation. Bastola began a week-long China visit on August 20. |
