Tsinghua Students Trace Source of Yellow RiverIn this summer vacation, 20 students of Tsinghua University from both China's mainland and Taiwan Province made an on-the-spot scientific investigation into the fountainhead of the Yellow River. They were not only intoxicated by the charming scenery along the Yellow River, but also were anxious about its ecological environment.Their exploration activity won support from a famous Chinese website and the records of their experience will be published by the website to awaken people's consciousness of environmental protection and to protect our mother river. It's reported that they started their exploration from Xining of Qinghai Province on August 1, went through mountains, rivers, gorges and lakes. They obtained first-hand materials on local humane, economy and environment, besides, they recorded the coverage of vegetation, degree of grassland degeneration, circumstance of rat pest, gradient of mountains, etc. providing an effective basis for further environmental improvement. |
