Wuzhou Holds National Youth Soccer Festival

The 2000 National Youth Soccer Festival recently opened in Wuzhou, Guangxi Province.

More than 600 young players on twenty-eight teams from all over the country participated in this soccer festival. They will be divided into three groups according to their ages: those born in 1983, between 1985 to 1986 and in 1987 group. These teams will play a total of 100 matches to contend for the championship, sportsmanship award and best scorer.

Wang Junsheng, vice-chairman of Chinese Football Association, said on the opening ceremony that this soccer festival is a grand festival for Chinese youth. He hopes that this festival will help the sport of soccer developed.

The opening ceremony of the new athlete quarters in the 6,000 square meter Wuzhou youth soccer training base, was held at the same time.
