16th World Computer Congress Closes

The 16th World Computer Congress closed Thursday after a four-day session. More than 2,000 experts, entrepreneurs and officials from more than 70 countries and regions attended the meeting, which concentrated its theme on "Information Science and Technology after 2000."

The organizing committee received 2,500 papers on the latest developments of information technology. Nearly all aspects of the information industry have been discussed.

The biannual event is sponsored by the International Federation for Information Processing under the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, with the help of the Chinese Electronics Association.

The 17th congress will be held in Canada's Montreal in 2002.
