Anti-Corruption Movie Brings up Sale of Script

While the movie with the anti-corruption theme, "Live or Die", is breaking earnings records in local cinemas, its original script, a novel titled "Option", has also seen a comeback with brisk sales in the nation's capital.

The film has pocketed 25 million yuan so far across the country, breaking the records set by imported motion pictures.

The novel was also one of the bestsellers of the year in China, when it was published in 1997. Film producers were competing to turn the story into a film drama.

According to the Mass Publishing House, publisher of the novel, more than 100,000 copies of the novel have been printed, but it has not been able to prevent its copy rights from being infringed upon. Several pirated copies have been found so far.

Zhang Kejian, head of the general editing board of the press, urged police to crack down on book piracy.

The publishing house plans to invite the author, film director and readers to discuss the development of the idea, from "Option" to "Live or Die".
