2000 First International Cycle Racing Soon on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Preparations are being made against time for 2000 First Qinghai-Tibet Plateau International Cycle Racing having been projected to start from Xining City, Qinghai Province on August 29, co-sponsored by China Cycle Sports Association, Qinghai Sports Bureau, Tibet Autonomous Region Sports Bureau and Beijing Jiuyuan Industry Development Co. Ltd.

Nine teams have been reported to participate in the racing, including two foreign cycle teams from South Africa and ROK and seven Chinese cycle teams from Beijing, Tianjin, the PLA, Shandong Province, Heilongjiang Province, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region and Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, respectively.

Seven race logs totaling over 6,000 kilometers are told and are for the most part at an altitude of over 4,500 meters above sea level according to report. Over a distance of 100km will be the longest log. The racers will turn up at terminus Lhasa on September 7.
