Arafat to Visit Egypt Saturday for Talks on Mideast Peace

Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat will visit Egypt on Saturday for more consultations with President Hosni Mubarak on the peace talks with Israel, the official Middle East News Agency reported on Wednesday.

It will be Arafat's fifth visit to Egypt since the Camp David summit ended on July 25 in the United States without reaching a final Israeli-Palestinian peace accord. The Palestinian leader was last in Egypt on Monday.

The report quoted diplomatic sources as saying that the two leaders would discuss all the ideas and proposals put forward by the concerned parties to help advance the peace process and seek ways of overcoming the current challenges.

Israel's acting Foreign Minister Shlomo Ben-Ami also is to visit Egypt Thursday for talks with Mubarak amid intensive Egyptian contacts with all parties concerned in the peace process, the news agency said.
