Typhoon Bilis to Hit East China Province at Noon

The municipal government of Xiamen in east China's Fujian Province has decided to give government employees a one-day leave Wednesday as Typhoon Bilis is expected to hit the city around noon.

Xiamen has already had heavy rains this morning and government departments are prepared to deal with emergencies that may result from the typhoon.

Xiamen's Ferry Service has suspended all shipping service today and the Xiamen Airlines has canceled all scheduled flights.

Local observatory estimated that Xiamen's rainfall will reach 150-200 mm or even 300 mm in some areas.

Typhoon Bilis will be the severest to affect Xiamen this year, local meteorological experts said.
