Uganda Appreciates Education Cooperation with China

Education cooperation will promote friendly relationship between Uganda and China, State Minister for Higher Education Abel Rwendeire said Tuesday.

Speaking at a ceremony to send nine Ugandan students to China for further study, Rwendeire encouraged them to contribute scientific and technological knowledge they will learn in China

to their native country.

Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zhang Xujiang said that the Ugandan students will act as goodwill "ambassadors" and bridge of friendship between the two countries.

The nine students who got the scholarship provided by the Chinese government are expected to leave for China on September 1.

They will major in engineering, medicine, computer science, demography and MBA.

So far a total of 208 Ugandan students have been trained in China since China started to enroll Ugandan students on the governmental scholarship in 1959.
