Premier's Visit to Japan Will Be a Success: Qian SaysChina believes that through joint efforts, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji's visit to Japan in October will be a complete success, Vice-Premier Qian Qichen said Wednesday.He made the remark in a meeting with Noda Takeshi, a member of the House of Representatives of Japan, and secretary-general of Japan's Conservative Party. He said that developing Sino-Japanese friendship is the common objective of the two countries, adding that a 5,000-member Japanese cultural delegation paid a visit to China in May this year. He expressed the hope that unofficial exchanges between the two countries will develop further in the future, thus making a new contribution to the growth of Sino-Japanese relations. Qian also praised Takeshi's efforts to advance Sino-Japanese friendship over the years, and offered congratulations for his assumption of chairmanship of the Japan-China Society last month. Takeshi said that he will make continued efforts to promote bilateral relations, adding that such relations are significant in promoting mutual understanding and exchanges between younger generations of the two countries. During his stay in Beijing, Takeshi will attend an opening ceremony of an exhibition of a noted Japanese calligrapher.
