Passenger Arrivals to Macao Keep Rising in July
Passenger arrivals to the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) by means of marine, land and air routes exceeded 848,000 in July this year, an increase of 25.9 percent over the same month of last year, the latest official statistics show.
Passenger arrivals from Hong Kong, the inland areas of China, Taiwan and Japan accounted for 56.7 percent, 22.2 percent, 15.2 percent and 1.3 percent respectively, according to the figures released Wednesday by the Statistics and Census Services of the Macao SAR government.
The number of passengers in the first seven months of this year exceeded 5.2 million, a rise of 21.6 percent over the same period of 1999.
Local analysts said the growing number of passengers directly benefits from better public security since the founding of the Macao SAR.
