China, Nepal Further Customs Cooperation

China and Nepal agreed to tighten customs control at the border areas and a memorandum to this end was signed Wednesday.

Zhang Weimin, deputy director of the Lhasa Customs Office, and Risi Ram Lamichhane, the visiting Nepalese customs director, signed the document at the 13th meeting between the two countries' border customs.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on further customs cooperation and the impact of Nepal's new trade policy on bilateral trade.

They also agreed to increase efforts to crack down on smuggling at the border areas.

The Nepalese customs delegation, led by Lamichhane, arrived in Lhasa for the meeting last Saturday.
