Beijing Mayor Supports Overseas-funded Enterprises

Beijing Mayor Liu Qi said Wednesday that the Beijing municipal government will spare no efforts to support overseas-funded enterprises to expand business in the city.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Christ Galvin, chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola, who are here for the 16th World Computer Congress.

Liu briefed the guest on the local economic plan. He said that the Beijing government will put more emphasis on developing high and new technologies and attract more overseas investment to become part of the local economy in the next five years.

Beijing will also try to create a more favorable investment environment for overseas investors, said the mayor.

Galvin told Liu that his company will continue to invest in Beijing in order to expand its mutually beneficial relationship with Beijing.

Galvin had previously announced at the Computer Congress that Motorola will reinvest in China to the tune of 16 billion Yuan.
