Xi'an Investment, Trade Fair to Be Held

The China Xi'an Investment and Trade Fair will be held from October 3-8 this year in this capital of northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Cui Lintao, secretary of the Xi'an City Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, said at a news briefing today that Xi'an will offer more than 200 projects to both domestic and overseas investors attending the fair.

These projects mainly cover the construction of infrastructure facilities, tourism facilities, and development of machinery, e-information, bio-medicine, building materials, food, real estate and modern agriculture. An exhibition displaying quality products from Chinese and foreign firms will be held simultaneously.

The official said that the development of Xi'an can not be realized without cooperation with other parts of the country and the world. The central government's strategy to develop western China has also provided a good opportunity for Xi'an's cooperative partners.

He said, Xi'an will actively participate in international competition to promote development by giving full play to its role as the gateway into western China.

Xi'an is also a major commodities distribution center of the country and a state technological development base with abundant talent resources, said Cui.

He said he was happy to know that a great number of Chinese and overseas business people have signed up for the upcoming event, which is sponsored by the Xi'an city government with the help of the German city of Dortmund, the Japan-China Association on Economy and Trade, and Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

Two international symposiums on investment project management and the impact of China's entry into the World Trade Organization on western China will also be held simultaneously.

Xi'an has established trade, technological and cultural ties with more than 100 countries, and has more than 2,000 overseas-funded enterprises.
