Hong Kong's Population Hits 6.78 million
There were 6,782,100 people in Hong Kong by mid-year, according to statistics released by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
Between the middle of 1999 and the middle of this year, 51,400 new babies were born in Hong Kong and 33,800 people died. Thus, Hong Kong's natural growth rate (births-deaths) was 17,600 people or an 29% increase.
