Ili to Be China's Biggest Fine Wool Sheep Raising Base
By 2006, fine wool sheep will grow to three million in Ili, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. News report from an on-the-spot fine wool sheep raising meeting held in Zhaosu County, Ili Prefecture says that Ili is going to be built into one as the biggest fine wool sheep raising base in China.
An official in charge of agriculture and animal husbandry in Ili analyzed the advantages of raising fine wool sheep at the meeting. He said that Ili is well blessed with a desirable zoology belt on top of a large number of experienced herdsmen and developed groundwork reinforced by a strong technical force for fine wool sheep raising.
Zhang Jinhua, deputy head of Ili Prefecture, spoke at the meeting. He demanded fine wool sheep are raised market-oriented, advanced techniques introduced, new fine wool sheep species developed and quality wool produced. Then on this large fine wool sheep raising base of Ili there will be as many as three million fine wool sheep being raised by 2006 from 1.1248 million in 1999, he said.
