Arts Festival Asked to Reflect On "Progressive Course of China's Advanced Culture"

Vice-Premier Li Lanqing Tuesday urged the organizers of the sixth China Arts Festival to fully reflect on the "progressive course of China's advanced culture".

President Jiang Zemin's instruction on the Party building is also the guiding principle of the forthcoming Arts Festival, Li, who is the committee's chairman, addressed the first plenary meeting.

Earlier this year, Jiang called the Party to represent the development requirements of China's advanced social productive forces, the progressive course of China's advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people.

China will hold its sixth Arts Festival from September 26 to October 13 in Nanjing, capital of Jiangsu Province in east China.

The triennial event, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture and the provincial government of Jiangsu, is the biggest festival showcasing the country's artistic achievements.
