British Airways Unveils Flat Beds on Hong Kong-London Route

British Airways announced Tuesday its 7.6 billion HK dollars (one billion U.S. dollars) cabin and service innovations with the official unveiling of the world's first flat beds in business class on the Hong Kong-London route.

Martin George, Director of Marketing for British Airways, said at a press briefing: "We are delighted that Hong Kong is the launch market for our revolutionary 'lounge in the sky' business class cabin, which underpins the importance of the Hong Kong route to British Airlines."

The new "lounge in the sky" Club World cabin features the world's first fully flat bed in business class. The armchair-style seat transforms to a 6 foot bed at the touch of a button and comes complete with in-seat power for laptops, telephones, new personal televisions, adjustable foot and head rests to enable passengers to eat, sleep, work or to be entertained.

The company is also offering passengers more choice than over before with the introduction of World Traveler Plus, a new cabin, set in between business and economy.

British Airways' World Traveler economy class, after being re-launched now can offer passengers 12 channel seat-back videos, new ergonomically designed seats, more family fun and inventive menus.
