China Launches Machinery Sector Website

China officially launched its first website for the machinery industry in a bid to speed up the traditional sector's development, according to today's China Daily.

The website, e10000.com.cn, operated by the China Machinery-Electricity Yiwan E-commerce and Network Co Ltd, provides a business-to-business(B2B) platform for the machinery sector.

"The website will be built into the best and safest B2B portal suitable for the unique characteristics of the machinery industry," said Mao Xin, deputy director of the Economic Information Center under the State Administration of Machinery Industry.

The paper cited Mao as saying that the website would provide firms with on-line trading and consultation services.

The e-commerce services will be extended to the whole country following trials among electrical firms in North China and South China.

As a major effort to combine Internet technology and traditional business methods, chain stores specializing in machinery and electrical products will also be set up nationwide to complement the on-line business.

Customers will be able to place on-line orders, which will be processed as quickly as possible allowing products to be delivered in the shortest time, Mao said.
