Vice-Premier Wu Meets Motorola Chairman

Chinese Vice-Premier Wu Bangguo met Tuesday with Christopher Galvin, chairman and chief executive officer of the Motorola Inc. of the United States.

Wu told Galvin that the Chinese side is glad to see the Motorola' business grow quickly in China, and believes the chairman's current visit to China will help expand the cooperation between the U.S. company and the Chinese side.

Galvin, who arrived here for the 16th World Computer Congress which began here Monday, said Motorola will add more investment in China and hopes to enlarge the mutually-beneficial cooperation with the Chinese side.

Earlier on Monday, Galvin said his company will invest 16 billion yuan (about 1.9 billion U.S. dollars) more in China to build an integrated manufacturing facility that will include a state-of-the-art wafer fabrication facility and an advanced assembly and test operation for wireless communications equipment.

Motorola began its technical cooperation with China 12 years ago, and has since established 18 research centers and labs in the country.
