Indonesian Ship Missing

A vessel carrying at least 66 passengers from the Indonesian province of North Maluku has failed to arrive at its destination in North Sulawesi.

The ship had been chartered by a logging company to transport its workers, their families and six policemen from a village.

Company officials say the vessel, which has no radio communication equipment, should have arrived at Bitung on the weekend.

A ship with at least 560 passengers left a port in North Maluku bound for North Sulawesi in June, but failed to reach its destination.

Eleven survivors were found, but one later died.

They said their boat sank in bad weather.
