Beijing to Host Major Economic Forum
The 2000 Beijing Economic Forum will be held here on August 28-29. Liu Zhi, deputy director of the municipal development planning commission, announced today that many famous economists and experts as well as domestic and overseas businesspeople and governmental officials will participate in the two-day event.
The forum, whose theme is "Beijing -- Strategy towards Early Realization of Modernization", will focus on eight topics including business opportunities and challenges, economic issues, infrastructure facelifting, development of the Zhongguancun High-Tech Park, and investment environment, according to the official.
The forum is expected to produce good suggestions about the development of Beijing in the new millennium."
The forum is jointly sponsored by the research office under the municipal government and the municipal development planning commission.
