East China Builds Art and Cultural Center

East China's Jiangsu Province held an opening ceremony Monday for its largest art and cultural center in its capital Nanjing.

The center, located in the downtown area of the city, occupies some 10,000 sq.m.. The building is decorated with a glass exterior.

It has a large theater, a music hall, and an exhibition center.

Construction work started on April 16, 1998, costing 300 million yuan (about 36 million U.S. dollars).
