Shanghai Composite Index Shoots New Record of 2100 Points

The Shanghai stock market opened at 2095.38 Monday, and closed at record high 2108.69, up 18.51 points or 0.89 per cent.

Meanwhile, turnover reached 16.7 billion yuan, 3.5 billion more against last close.

Cement sector and glass sector, headed by Huaxin Cement and Luoyang Glass, surged from the very beginning of Monday's trading.

Stock analysts still hold an optimistic attitude towards the later sessions, but they cautioned one or two corrections might be needed as the index has climbed to the historic high 2100 points.

The revelation that foreign investors will be allowed to enter China money market soon, and opening of China's technology board -- China's Nasdaq, by the end of this year or early next year by officials from China's Securities Regulatory Commission were believed to have added fume into the activated market.
