China's Largest Safari Park Built in Chongqing

Construction of the Chongqing safari park here, the largest of its kind in China, is expected to be competed at the end of the year.

The safari park will cover 333 hectares of land in Shuangzhu Township of Chongqing Municipality, southwest China, and have 30,000 animals in 430 categories. Nearly one third of the animals are under State protection and some were imported.

The park will be divided into 14 parts including special zones for tigers, bears, leopards, lions, omnivorous animals, amphibious animals, birds and an aquarium.

The first batch of animals will arrive at the park on August 28. They include kangarooes from the United States and New Zealand, fur seals from South Africa, and African lions.
