Gold Mine Discovered in Tibet

A gold mine has recently been discovered in southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region. Located in northern Tibet, the reserves of the gold mine are yet to be determined, according to an officer of the Gold Corps of the Chinese People's Armed Police, which discovered the mine.

Last year, the gold corps discovered three gold mines with a proven deposit of 4,437 kg in the counties of Nyima and Baingoin in Tibet and the mines have been transferred to the local government for development.

China is now working hard to find gold resources in the country's underdeveloped areas.

In 1999, gold reserves were also found in Sichuan, Gansu and Shaanxi provinces in western China.
