Shenzhen Sets Long-Term Development Plan

Shenzhen City in south China's Guangdong Province will strives to lead the country in realizing modernization in the year of 2005.

The goal is set in the city's development plan for the next 30 years. According to the plan, the city will attain the level of moderately developed countries in 2010, and catch up with the level of developed countries in 2030.

Founded in 1980, Shenzhen is China's first special economic zone (SEZ). Through two decades' efforts, Shenzhen has grown from a small town into one of the country's most prosperous and dynamicmodern city.

China now has five SEZs, namely, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Hainan.
