Macao SAR Celebrates Judicial Police DayThe Day of Judicial Police of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) was celebrated in Macao Saturday and some outstanding individuals and judicial police groups were commended.Cheong Kuok Va, secretary for security of the Macao SAR government, noted that the judicial police have cracked many big cases and contributed a lot to safeguarding public security since the founding of the SAR in last December, "This year, the leadership of the judicial police has conducted a series of reforms which help raise the efficiency of criminal investigation and make the work of judicial police more transparent," he said. With more contacts with the outside world, the judicial police may face ever greater challenges in combating trans-border crimes, Cheong said, adding that local police authorities have established good ties with counterpart departments of the state and neighboring Guangdong Province. "But one point is certain, all difficulties will be overcome with the concerted efforts of all members of the judicial police, with the common goal of protecting public security, together with the cooperation of other police forces," he said. Altogether 19 individuals and five police groups were commended. Chief Executive of the Macao SAR Edmund Ho Hau Wah attended the celebration and awarded prizes to part of the outstanding individuals. |
