China Ensures Two Golds at Malaysia Open Badminton Championships

China has ensured two gold medals as its women's shuttlers dominated the singles and doubles semifinals at the Malaysia Open badminton championships on Saturday.

Gong Zhichao and Dai Yun beat their respective rivals to make the women's singles final an all-Chinese affair.

Top-seeded Gong beat Wang Chen of China's Hong Kong 11-5, 11-2 while Dai Yun defeated Kelly Morgan of Wales 11-3, 11-5.

In the women's doubles, top-seeded Ge Fei and Gu Jun will play in the final against fellow Chinese Huang Nanyan and Yang Wei.

Ge and Gu, the world number one in the event, beat Ra Kyung-min and Chung Jae-hee of South Korea 15-5, 15-12. Huang and Yang booked a berth in the final with a 15-3, 15-12 victory over Joanne Goode and Donna Kellogg of England.

China also has a shot at the men's singles title as second-seed Xia Xuanze downed Malaysia's Wong Choong Hann on Saturday to advance to the final.

Xia, the All England winner, downed his opponent 17-15, 15-10. In Sunday's final, Xia will face top seed Taufik Hidayat of Indonesia, who overpowered Pullela Gopichand of India 15-12, 15-11.

Xia Xuanze scored his first victory over Taufik to win the All England title five months ago.

The men's doubles final will be contested between South Koreans Lee Dong-soo and Yoo Yong-sung and Indonesian Flany Limpele and Eng Hian.
